Work Party - an oxymoron

December 11, 2002 - 11:28pm

The company Christmas party is Saturday. Many of my coworkers are talking about it. It seems the women are extremely interested in what everyone else is wearing. I haven't heard much from the men. One was talking about getting drunk and the other asked if I was bringing my boyfriend. Did I mention we're having karaoke at the party? Classy. Since Kevin can't come down for it, I'm dragging Gary along. He said he would karaoke, but I'm not going to let him.

I'm not particularly excited about this party. Most of the company parties aren't all that exciting. But as I've been reminded, it's just another aspect of work. This is just the social aspect. So I'll go, be pleasant, not drink too much, and tell everyone how beautiful they look. It's all part of the game.

I'm actually looking forward to ours. (But we aren't having karaoke.)

I know what you mean. I only went to mine because I felt it was expected. The best time I had was after the party when I got to hang out at Tina's place. (I *did* get to trade that hidieous bunny sculpture that I picked up at your place for a beautiful set of wine glasses and a $100 gift certificate at the GAP. Talk about trading up!!)

Dude, you don't have to pay me to crank out some GnR. The only problem with that song and karaoke is that awkward long guitar solo. Do you air guitar or Axl dance during the solo? I'll just play it by ear or maybe I'll do "Mr. Roboto" or "Safety Dance." Both are always crowd pleasers.
