Women in the Workforce

October 1, 2007 - 7:00pm

Road and Travel Magazine posted this reprint of an article from 1943 on hiring women in the transportation industry. My how times have changed!! My favorite recommendations:

  • Pick young married women. They are less likely to be flirtatious.
  • General experience indicates that "husky" girls - those who are just a little on the heavy side - are more even-tempered and efficient than their underweight sisters.
  • Give the female employee a definite daylong schedule of duties so that they will keep busy without bothering the management ... they lack initiative in finding work themselves.

Thanks, Jish, for the link!
