What is it I'm supposed to learn?

August 27, 2002 - 3:25am

I've had some really interesting conversations with friends the last few days. So much of the talk seems to turn to work. We're all so wrapped up in our jobs. I guess it makes sense when we do it for 8+ hours a day. Makes me wonder what I'm supposed to learn from the experiences of others. I know there's a big lesson here just waiting for me to grasp it. But I'm not quit there yet - still too self-centered. Need to let go of my pinhole perspective and start looking at the big picture. I have such a beautiful life and so much freedom. The really important part is to remember it's all a journey and there's really no destination. Learning from other people's journeys can only make mine a little bit sweeter.

we do spend too much time involved in work. What matters is the time we spend with others and what we do to help them, not what we did at work today. http://www.fastcompany.com/online/29/betrayed.html

A bit of Zen for your day: It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end. -Ursula K. Le Guin I read a little Zen quote at each of my classes-- maybe I'll read this one tonight. You're so insightful!
