Spring Weather in January

January 21, 2003 - 6:15pm

Yesterday and today the weather here has been heavenly. The temperature is in the high 50's and low 60's (right now it's 59 degrees!). The sun is out, the sky is clear, and there's a slight breeze. It is absolutely perfect outside. So perfect that I can honestly say that I love Texas. Where else in the US can you be this warm in the middle of January? Ok, lots of places other than Texas, but I'm really happy to be here.

Last Night
After work last night, Karen, Kristen and I took advantage of the great weather and took the dogs for a walk. Well, a walk and roll - I roller skated. I'm still pretty wobbly, but it's so much fun! Especially since I haven't crashed yet...yet being key. Karen and Kristen were teasing that I need knee pads and a helmet. They're probably right but I didn't need them when I was a kid! So what if I'm a few years older?! Tiger loves it when I skate, because we can go way faster than normal. (Being an ex-racer, he likes to go fast sometimes. Though, don't get the wrong idea, I'm not a good enough skater to go as fast as he would actually run. He's more trotting along with me.) Everyone had a great time enjoying the incredible weather and being together.

After the walk, I disappeared into the office never to be seen again! I had a lot of homework last night, but I'm feeling good today because I got everything done. Went to bed later than I would have liked but I have a feeling I need to get used to it. It'll be like this the next 2.5 years. But I'm not used to it yet because I slept through my alarm this morning. I must have actually turned it off because I didn't wake up until Karen woke me up. It was 20 minutes after I was supposed to leave for work. Thank goodness for sisters who look out for me; otherwise, I would have probably slept all day. (Now that doesn't sound bad at all.)

I'm so jealous! It's a cold, gray, snowy day here. Which would be fine if there was no place to go. (O.K. - so it is pretty, and I do still feel like a little kid every time I see snowflakes.) My heart is still in Texas.
