Sony Puppy

I received an email today asking me to give my opinion in order to get placed into a drawing for this device. I thought the device looked cool so I actually took the time to read the email. Turns out they want my opinion on the security problems I'm facing. In return, I could win this USB drive with fingerprint imaging built-in. Cool! Seems an appropriate prize for the type of information they're looking for.

But why in the world did Sony call it a "Puppy?!"

Maybe it's like a faithful puppy - it'll only come when you call it? With your fingerprint? I dunno. I got nothing.

Well, Sony PR had planned a multimillion dollar ad campaign based around the slogan : "Give your computer security system the finger!" At the last moment, Legal told them they had to cancel, and "Puppy" was the best they could come up with over lunch break. Or maybe not...

When I quickly looked at the graphic, I thought it said they were giving away 'puppy fingers'. I was kind of squicked. Heh!
