Planners

May 15, 2007 - 5:49pm

My boyfriend, Chris, is a planner. This is a good thing, because I am also a planner. It's nice that he doesn't get tired of me talking about the future and things I want to do and all the plans I have. He understands that plans don't always have to be executed and that I'm always entertained by plans. He understands these things because he's a planner too.

I've recently learned that Chris might be more of a planner than I.

One of Chris's hobbies is working with wood. Naturally, he has a garage full of woodworking tools. Since he'll be moving to my house soon, all of those tools will be in my garage. (Soon to be referred to as "our garage.") Chris is more than slightly concerned about how all the tools are going to fit into the garage along with two cars.

So weeks ago, he had me measure the entire garage and send him the specs. Then he drew it up in some computer planning tool. This man is serious! The picture below is the outcome. Well, the outcome so far. Chris has already been through multiple revisions. And I have to admit that I'm impressed. Somehow he's managed to get everything to fit along with two cars. Brilliant.

In a short six weeks, we'll find out if this plan can be executed properly. Cross your fingers!

No, it was awesome and really sweet. While I was planning paint colors and furniture, he was making sure all our ducks were in a row. It was like a geeky guy's way of contributing...

My ex made a spreadsheet titled "LIFE" where he charted out our whole financial picture with variable data fields, so he could adjust for anything from changes in salaries to bonus compensations. It was really quite funny. BTW, is that legend in the bottom right of the drawing? Is he available to plan my closet configuration?

Hmmm... if you switch the MINI and The Benz, then you could fit the "Current Workbench" and "Current Cabinets" in front of the Mini ;)

So what happens to all the stuff that's in your garage now? I'm a little confused, it looks like the "current cabinet" and "current workbench" are now blocking the front door ;)

Wow, Keesha, that's intense. Did it bother you that he planed all that out? And I don't know if Chris is for hire...but I can recommend him. He's a good planner!

Chris, Did you mean that to sound as dirty as it came across? Abby (Gutter-mind)

Current cabinets and current workbench get tossed - not in front of the front door ;) My workbench is larger and much better and we just don't have enough junk to fill up all the other cabinets ...... yet ;) Now I've just got to figure out where to put all my wood ......
