Tonight was a very productive night. After work I met with some classmates and practiced a presentation we're giving tomorrow. Then I came home to work on the front room. You see, we tore the carpet out on Saturday. It was old and time to go. We decided to paint the concrete as a temporary solution. (At least until the landlord can decide if he's willing to invest in real flooring or not.) We did the exact same thing in the dining room a couple years ago and I've been quite pleased.
We had to get it done tonight because everyone's schedule is completely filled to the brim in the next 10 days. After all, Karen gets married on April 3rd. Amazing how quickly it's snuck up on us.
Anyhow, we cleaned the floor one last time and started painting. With Kristen and Dad both helping, it went really fast. So now the floor is painted! In a couple days we can put the room back together and the house will be in tip top shape for all the guests!
Speaking of guests, Jason is coming tomorrow so I cleaned the kitchen as well. Somehow I got caught up in school work this weekend and fell short on my house duties. (Ahh, school...it's making me crazy right now.) So I think Jason is coming to move more of Karen's stuff up to Oklahoma. The house is getting emptier and emptier. It's weird and sad. I'm not ready for her to be gone. I'm not ready for these kinds of changes in the family. But you know what, I'm still happy as a clam for her.
In other news, Summer and Greg will be in Texas this weekend. Looks like we'll be hanging out on Friday and I can hardly wait! Then Saturday, I'm going down to Austin for Julie and Jason's wedding. Coming back Sunday to a ton of homework and the crazy week before Karen's wedding. It's going to be an awesome 10 days!
Quote of the Day
"i guess i am an insomniatic narcaleptic."

Poor Zac. I can't imagine how he's feeling right now.
"I'm too educated to be a teacher."

I can't believe she just said that. Bitch.
My coworker and friend, Christy married Jon last night. It was absolutely beautiful and very special. I really enjoyed the part in the ceremony where they read personal notes to each other. It made me cry it was so sweet. I'm sure they have many, many happy years ahead of them!

I got to visit with friends, Brad and Jay.

I also enjoyed seeing Tim and meeting his girlfriend, Jan.
After the wedding, I met Karen and "the girls" for her bachelorette party. Really, it was just a night out on the town. We went dancing and did some drinking. It was a low-key night which is what everyone was looking for. We didn't even make Karen wear a veil! (Thank goodness...that's a silly practice I can't get into.) It's hard to believe that in only two weeks, Karen and J will be married! I'm so excited.
Wow, I just realized that I missed my Blogversary this year. It was February 22nd. This space is three years old. It's kinda sad that I'm writing so little these days. There will be more content ... when I feel better about sharing my feelings and when I make some time.

I thoroughly enjoyed my one night in Austin for SXSW. I intentionally went to see Cameron (who I haven't seen since SXSW two years ago) and had the pleasure of seeing many others as well as meeting a few new people.

Because I don't seem to be busy enough already, I'm going to Austin tonight. South by Southwest Interactive is going on and I decided I just had to go down and party with the geeks...err, my peeps. Plus, it's my chance to see Cameron whom I haven't seen in two years. That's just too darn long. Too bad I can't stay through Monday night so I can attend 20x2 and DFW Blogs happy hour.

Thank you both!
Thanks everyone for the birthday email yesteray! You brightened my day.
Today is my birthday and Karen posted a really touching post for me.
It hit me the other night that I'm 27 this year. These things sure have a way of sneaking up. How did I get to 27 so quickly? People say you feel like this your whole life. Birthdays just keep sneaking up. I'm not where I thought I would be at 27, but life is so much better than I ever imagined. I'm a very lucky young woman!
Kevin and I are back from London. We had a great time - so great, in fact, that I didn't write while I was away. Hopefully I'll catch up with the list of all we did plus photos later this week. I'm leaving again tonight for a work trip. Busy, busy, but I feel great after such a wonderful trip! Plus, I saw my grades for the last classes I took and I did much better than expected (an A and a B)! I'm ready to get back in the swing of things...just what I hoped to feel after a week of vacation.
