London

February 29, 2004 - 10:30pm

It's evening Sunday in London where Kevin and I arrived this morning. We had an uneventful flight (except that British Airways have a VERY tight coach section..hey, I can't complain, they were cheap tickets!). We got to the Grant's apartment in Kingsington with a lot of ease. I think New York City has prepared me well for navigating the London underground. We slept off the flight for a few hours then did some sightseeing.

  • Covent Gardens
  • Leister Square
  • Trafalgar Square
  • London Eye - which was an absolutely beautiful view of the city at night
  • Big Ben and House of Parliament

Now we're exhausted and are going to try to get some sleep. More sightseeing tomorrow!

you should go to the victoria and albert museum. you could spend a whole day there! it's down the street from harrods, so you could go there too.

also, if you can find it - try some orangina rouge. it's like orangina, except made with blood oranges. it's delicious and you can't find it in the states! take a train or bus up to oxford too. gorgeous.

I hope you have a blast! I loved it when I went many moons ago. I was there working on the Twickenham Stadium . I was trying to remember were I stayed. I think the hotel was called the Richmond in Kensington. I do remember one of Mic Jagger's flats were next door and the nearby pub closed at 11:00 pm. Needless to say we closed it every chance we got. We kept to ourselves most of the time. Near the end of the trip the locals were surpirsed to find out we were from the states. It was a good thing they didn't warm up to us earlier. Lets just say the pints were flowing and we had a blast. Have fun! Let's do lunch when you get back, my treat. I will email you.
