what kind of bike do you have?

I've got an old road bike that was converted to a single speed. I picked it up off Craigslist. I've also got a cruiser but that's for shorter and slower rides.

Were you the only one wearing a helmet?

Encyclopedia Brown, I don't know why I'm the only one. The law here doesn't require a helmet. I'm just more comfortable with one.

I, for one, am delighted to see you protecting your head! I happen to be fond of it the way it is and wouldn't want anything to happen to it.

Also, I forgot to ask you the other day when we chatted - but I've been trying to work out in my head how bicycle polo is played...maybe I'm just too sleep deprived (your niece says hi, btw) but I need an explanation!

Bike polo is played in a parking lot. The one we play in has some curbs for boundaries. Players ride bikes and have a "polo" stick (ours our homemade from ski poles & PVC). The idea is to get a little ball into the goal. Players are supposed to stay on their bike and if they put a foot down, they have to ride to the middle of the court and tap out before they can get back into the game. (Like a mini penalty.)

I'd like to post pictures someday. We play at night and it's hard to get decent shots. I'll try.
