Chris's Birthday Weekend

June 11, 2007 - 7:16pm

Birthday BoyLast weekend I was in Dallas to celebrate Chris's 30th birthday. He finally caught up to me in age. We're now both officially old.*

Friday night after work, I flew into Dallas. Chris picked me up and we went to Hooligan's, a bar in Arlington. We met up with Chris's roommates and Jeff, who was in town from San Antonio for the festivities. In typical Arlington fashion, we ran into people from high school. Mostly we just drank. Good times.

Saturday I was slow to get started. Maybe a little too much gin the night before. The rest of the day, Chris and I got ready for the birthday party which started around 4pm. In addition to celebrating Chris's birthday the party was to celebrate Jimmy and Katy's too. It was definitely a party worthy of three birthdays! It started off as a barbecue and went late, late, late into the night. That might have had something to do with the two kegs of beer and the margarita and daiquiri machines. I called it a night around 2:30am. Chris and a handful of friends were up until 5am. (Now that Chris is 30, I bet that's the last time he's able to stay up until 5. Getting old has its consequences. Heh.)

Erica & Chris

Sunday morning everyone who spent the night got up and went out for breakfast. We tried to ignore the state of the house until sustenance was found. After breakfast serious cleaning took place and then the drinking began all over again. After all, there was still beer in the keg and strawberry daiquiri's in the machine! So we spent the rest of the day and night enjoying the most gorgeous Texas weather in Chris's backyard.

The Boys

Monday morning I flew back to Phoenix on a 6am flight. Needless to say, I was completely worn out after a weekend of party. But you only turn 30 once. (Unless you're me and plan on being 30 for the next 5 - 10 years.)

Go see the entire set of pictures.

*But don't think for a minute we're going to start acting our age!

Wow, Adam, 34! It goes so fast, doesn't it? I'm so glad to hear you're happy where you are!

old is a state of mind, missy! and before you start claiming oldness for yourself keep in mind that some of your friends are on the verge of 34. and, oddly enough, the older i get, the shorter my hair gets cut, and the more my grey starts to show. but i will say this - i have no desire to be any younger than i am. :-)
