Two years ago, Chris and I got married. What a wonderful two years it has been. I joke that if I had known how good marriage would be, I would have gotten married a lot sooner. I say it in a joking way, but it really is true. Being married to Chris has been the best thing in my adult life. I am so, so lucky to have him in my life.
I just took some time to re-read our vows from the wedding ceremony. It's awesome to have in writing what was in our hearts and minds two years ago.
We're in Chicago this weekend spending time with Chris' sister and her family. It's been an absolutely fabulous visit and a wonderful anniversary weekend. I'm so lucky to have married into such an awesome family.
Our friend, Garrett, is a renaissance man. He is always making something and learning something new. He is amazingly skilled at everything from metal working to computer programming. He is awesome.
Garrett's latest project was a powder coating oven. He had been given a powder coating gun but wanted an oven big enough for a bike frame. So he fabricated his own & used conventional oven parts. Garrett generously offered its use to the bike community. A few weeks ago, we took advantage of his set up and powder coated a folding bike that Chris is fixing up.
Powder coating is a three step process.
Step 1: Strip the old paint & prep

Chris took the metal parts to a chemical stripper since it is quite cost efficient. Then he sanded and did some minor metal repair.
Step 2: Electrify & spray powder

Powder coating is based on an electrostatic process where you electrify the metal & powder. The electricity causes the powder to stick to the part. The powder is essentially a plastic. It can fall or be brushed off during this step so everything is handled very carefully. Be sure to check the powder covers everything.
Step 3: Cure in the oven (aka BAKE!)

Our pieces were in the oven about 20 - 30 minutes. Basically you're heating it until the powder gets a glassy finish then allow it to cure. It comes out of the oven, cools down, and the piece is complete! Well, except that now you have to put the bike back together again.
So cute!

On April 10, we got the privilege of attending Celeste and Josiah's wedding. They are very good friends so it was awesome to be a part of their special day. They planned a brunch wedding, because it is their favorite meal. Personally, I think it's a perfect time for a wedding!
Everything was perfect and quite lovely. It was so neat to see it all together after hearing so much about the wedding preparations. They brought in their own style to everything, which is exactly how a wedding should be. I especially loved that they departed on bikes!
See all our pictures from the wedding.
See amazing pictures by the professional photographer / photojournalist, Morgan Bellinger.
A short film about so much more than clothing.
I love how he's laid back and practical about biking.
Kristen, my sister, recently told me about this conversation between my mother and my nephew.
My mom: Braydon, you are such a treasure.
My nephew: No, Grandma, I'm a pirate!
When I work at home Bentley likes to nap in the office with me. For some reason he likes to be under the desk or right next to my chair. That means I step on him or run him over from time to time. I've started bringing his dog bed into the office with the hope that he'll sleep there instead of underneath me. Seems to be working.
Today I turned around and saw him curled up with his paws over his face. Too cute!
